Imago Dei, the faith-based women's clothing store at 326 Main Street, closed its doors Sunday, Oct. 25, after a decade in downtown Franklin.
Owner Sarah Tucker Cash shared the news in a farewell message on social media, inviting customers to visit during the store's final weekend to celebrate 10 years and say goodbye, Williamson Source reported.
"This space changed my life, and I'll never be the same because of it," Cash wrote. She said she met her best friends and deepened her faith inside the shop.
The farewell message said the decision to close came as Cash prepares for a new chapter, including marriage, family life and the arrival of a second baby in January.
The store opened in October 2016 with a mission to create a space where customers felt seen and loved. The name, Latin for "image of God," reflected Cash's faith, which drove her to open the shop at age 21 after studying fashion merchandising in college, according to a Downtown Franklin profile published in 2021.
Cash was no stranger to Main Street before Imago Dei. Her first job was at Sweet CeCe's on West Main Street, and she later worked at another downtown boutique, Jondie's, according to a 2018 Williamson Herald feature. She tried two earlier locations, including a space at The Factory, before former neighbors offered her the spot at 326 Main Street in late 2016.
The small shop carried women's clothing and accessories and featured fitting rooms with encouraging words painted on the walls. Cash ran it with help from her mother, Terra, and her sister, Gracie.
Over the years, Williamson Source reported, the store became a gathering place where visitors shared personal milestones, prayers and celebrations. Cash reflected on watching children grow up and leave for college, and families celebrate marriages and new babies.
It was a family affair.
Customers with outstanding in-store or online orders they have not received are encouraged to contact Imago Dei by direct message to resolve their purchases.
