The Centennial Cougars beat James Lawson 20-7 in a Class 5A region game Friday, Oct. 23, at home in Franklin.
The victory snaps a three-game losing streak for the Cougars, who dropped consecutive games to Antioch (10-33 on Sept. 18), Franklin (14-19 on Oct. 2) and Nolensville (0-31 on Oct. 8), according to MaxPreps. The 13-point win over James Lawson gives Centennial its most lopsided margin in weeks.
The result was reported by Williamson Source and confirmed by Yahoo Sports, both listing the game as a Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) region contest.
First-year head coach Chad Broadrick took over the program in January after interim coach Taylor Burks guided the Cougars to a Class 5A state semifinal appearance the previous season, according to a preseason profile published in July by the Williamson Herald. Broadrick previously served as defensive coordinator at Father Ryan in 2024 and at Pope John Paul II in 2025.
In that July profile, Broadrick said he wanted to build on the program's postseason momentum. "I want to be at a place where people expect us to win," he told the Williamson Herald.
Senior Brody Haddox was among the players the Herald highlighted in its preseason coverage as a key contributor heading into the fall. This season also marks Centennial's 30th year of football.
James Lawson entered the game with a 5-4 record, according to Tennessee Firefly power ratings.
The Cougars were one of several Williamson County teams to win on Oct. 23. Page shut out Hillsboro 41-0, Franklin edged Summit 24-21 and Fairview routed Cheatham County 42-7, per Williamson Source. Fairview improved to 9-0. Page, ranked No. 1 in Class 5A by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association entering Week 10 with a 7-1 record, moved to 8-1.
Scoring details and individual statistics from the Centennial game were not available at publication.
