Battle Ground Academy is one win from a state volleyball championship.

The Franklin school's Wildcats swept Goodpasture 3-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Division II-A semifinal, earning a berth in the state title match Thursday at Middle Tennessee State University, according to MaxPreps match results. BGA improved to 17-8 on the season.

The semifinal win carried extra weight. BGA had lost to Goodpasture twice during the regular season, including a five-set match and a four-set loss on Sept. 2 in Franklin, the Williamson Herald reported.

Wednesday's reversal followed a dominant opening-round performance. BGA routed Silverdale Academy 25-9, 25-18, 25-19 on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Providence Christian Academy in Murfreesboro to open the four-team Final Four, according to the Williamson Herald.

Senior Johanna Snyder led the attack against Silverdale with 11 kills on .450 hitting and nine digs. Grey Malone and Taylor Davis each added six kills, while Hannah Gregg posted six blocks and three kills.

Setter Gianna Ippolito dished 15 assists and surpassed 1,000 career assists in the match. Macey Claire Tidwell added eight assists and three aces. The team celebrated afterward with family, friends and a couple busloads of BGA students who made the trip.

"This is a big deal for all of us," Snyder told the Williamson Herald after the Silverdale win. "We're all just so close …"

First-year head coach Laurel Satterfield credited the team's fast start against Silverdale, where BGA cruised to a 16-point first-set win and never let up.

The program has reached the Final Four six times in seven years and the championship match three times in that span, according to the Williamson Herald. Snyder, Malone and Elena Miller all played in the 2024 title match, a three-set loss to Northpoint Christian. BGA avenged that defeat in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 17, winning in four sets in Southaven, Mississippi, to reach this year's Final Four.

Thursday's championship match is at MTSU. Individual set scores and stats from the Goodpasture semifinal were not available.
