Franklin senior Aubry Gates broke the program's single-season goal record as the Admirals shut out Franklin County 3-0 in the Region 5-AAA semifinals.

Gates' 45th goal of the year came in the 31st minute off a corner kick from Izumi Wakatsuki in Tuesday's road win, the Williamson Herald reported. The milestone capped a dominant first half in which all three Franklin goals were scored.

Wakatsuki netted both of the other goals. She opened the scoring, assisted by Gates, then lobbed in the second from just outside the box in the 28th minute. Franklin pressured throughout the second half but could not extend the lead.

The result sets up a Region 5-AAA championship rematch with Ravenwood. The Raptors handed the Admirals their first loss of the season in the District 10-AAA final, winning in a penalty-kick marathon. The two rivals meet again Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. at Ravenwood in Brentwood. The winner earns home-field advantage in the Class AAA Sectional round.

Ravenwood reached the final with a 9-0 rout of Shelbyville Central on Tuesday at home. Payton Meyer recorded a hat trick, and Callie Karkau added two goals and an assist. Tatum Hartshorn scored her 23rd goal of the season, and Allie Gay contributed a goal and two assists.
