Fairview's Fall Fun Day at Bowie Nature Park is off for Saturday, Oct. 10, as heavy rain and high winds from the remnants of Hurricane Isaias bear down on Middle Tennessee.
The city called the cancellation a difficult decision but said incoming weather left no choice, according to WKRN News 2, which first reported the cancellation Thursday, Oct. 8. The city said on Facebook that the safety of residents, visitors, vendors and staff was its top priority.
The outdoor event had been scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the park, located at 7211 Bowie Lake Rd. The city's online calendar now lists the event as canceled. No makeup date has been set.
WKRN reported that Fairview was one of several Middle Tennessee communities pulling events off the calendar ahead of the weekend storm.
What the forecast shows
Hurricane Isaias, a Category 3 storm, made landfall along the Gulf Coast late Friday, Oct. 9. Its remnants are forecast to push over Middle Tennessee and into southern Kentucky, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds starting early Saturday.
The National Weather Service Nashville said on X on Friday, Oct. 9, that the region faces a 60% to 90% chance of wind gusts at 35 mph or higher. The agency urged residents to secure loose outdoor objects and inflatable Halloween decorations before the storm arrives.
A Flood Watch covers most of Middle Tennessee from late Friday night through Sunday morning, with one to three inches of rainfall possible within 36 hours. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected throughout the day Saturday, with the strongest winds forecast between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
