Four Franklin police officers earned promotions to Master Patrol Officer, a senior patrol rank that carries added responsibilities on the street.
The Franklin Police Department announced on X on Tuesday, Sept. 29, that Arthur Adams, Avery Irwin, Erick Lee and Joel Walters had been elevated to the MPO rank. The department described the four as experienced officers who take on additional duties while continuing front-line patrol work.
MPOs also serve as mentors, the department said, sharing knowledge with fellow officers and helping support day-to-day operations. The promotion recognizes the officers' growth, experience and commitment to the Franklin community, according to the department.
The promotions are the latest in a string of MPO elevations this year. Officer Camy Barber, who joined the department in 2025, was promoted to the rank in June. Chief Deb Faulkner promoted Officer Ryan Durham to MPO in late July. Durham joined the Franklin Police Department in December 2023.
Six officers have earned the MPO rank so far in 2026.
Franklin PD has been building its ranks on multiple fronts. On Wednesday, Sept. 23, Faulkner swore in four new officers at police headquarters. In August, the department raised entry-level starting pay to $68,000 and set certified lateral officer salaries between $73,000 and $77,000, according to a city news release.
"We're committed to attracting the very best people to this profession while continuing to reward those who choose to build their careers here," Faulkner said in the Aug. 12 hiring announcement.
The four newest MPOs add experienced leadership to a patrol force that has also welcomed new recruits and higher pay scales in recent months. The department has not announced when the next round of promotions will take place.
