Franklin High School's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat Summit 3-2 in the Region 5-AAA Final on Tuesday, Oct. 13, claiming the program's first region championship since 2015.

The win sends the Lady Ads to the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Sectional round, which Franklin will host Thursday, Oct. 15. A sectional victory would punch the team's ticket to the state tournament.

It was the third five-set battle between Franklin and Summit this season. Franklin won all three.

Franklin Admirals Athletics announced the result on X, posting set-by-set scores throughout the night. Summit took Set 1 by a 25-20 margin. Franklin answered 25-23 in Set 2 to level the match. Summit regained the lead with a 25-23 Set 3 win, putting the Lady Ads in a 2-1 hole.

Franklin responded with a 25-17 fourth set to force a decisive fifth. The Lady Ads won the final set 15-12 to clinch the title.

Before the region final, Franklin swept Coffee County 3-0 in the semifinal earlier Tuesday. The scores: 25-6, 25-15 and 25-4.

The region title caps a postseason run that began with a district championship victory over the same Summit squad on Friday, Oct. 9. That match also went five sets, ending 25-17, 15-25, 25-23, 21-25, 16-14, according to the Williamson Herald.

Summit entered the postseason as the defending Class AAA state champion, having won the 2025 state title in the program's first state appearance.

Sixth-year head coach MaKayla Beebe praised her team's resilience after the district championship win Friday, Oct. 9. "They showed up and fought and clawed when they had to," Beebe said. "That's huge for this team."

Junior Ellyson Fogle led Franklin in the district final with 19 kills and 11 digs. Setter Emerson Garner, the regular-season District 10-AAA Most Valuable Player, contributed 46 assists, 10 digs, seven kills and three blocks. Three-year starter Maggie Myhr was named district tournament MVP after recording 42 digs in the final.

Myhr surpassed 1,000 career digs during the district semifinal win over Page on Wednesday, Oct. 7, according to the Williamson Herald. Garner set her 2,000th career assist in the same match.

Franklin had not advanced past the district tournament since 2015, when the program also reached the state tournament. A sectional win Thursday would send the Lady Ads back to state.
