Franklin Police Department officers will serve up conversation alongside free coffee Wednesday, Oct. 7, when they meet with residents at White Bison Coffee on Carothers Parkway.
The department announced the event on X, inviting community members to stop by between 7 and 8 a.m. at the coffee shop inside Twice Daily at 5060 Carothers Pkwy. Williamson Source also reported the details. White Bison Coffee will provide complimentary coffee for anyone who attends.
The gathering marks National Coffee with a Cop Day, held each year on the first Wednesday in October. The national program started in 2016 as part of National Community Policing Week and reaches its 10th annual observance this year, according to the Hawai'i Police Department, which is hosting its own events the same day.
The Franklin Police Department described the program as a nationwide effort to create opportunities for open dialogue between officers and residents in an informal setting. The Wednesday morning event has no formal agenda. Officers and residents share a table and a cup of coffee instead of meeting during a 911 call or a traffic stop.
White Bison Coffee, a brand under Tri Star Energy, operates inside Twice Daily convenience stores. The Carothers Parkway location is open around the clock, though the event itself runs only from 7 to 8 a.m.
The Franklin Police Department is headquartered at 900 Columbia Ave. Residents who want to reach the department outside the event can call the non-emergency line at (615) 794-2513.
