Three former Tennessee Titans will take the stage at a Franklin fundraiser benefiting children who have experienced abuse.
Kevin Dyson, Derrick Mason and Brad Hopkins will appear at "Remember the Titans: Legends, Stories, A Greater Purpose" on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 111 Motorcars, 111 Alpha Dr. The event, first reported by the Williamson Herald, benefits Davis House Child Advocacy Center, a Franklin nonprofit that has served Williamson County families since 2000.
Hopkins, a former offensive tackle who started 188 games for the franchise and made two Pro Bowls, now sits on the Davis House board. He told the Williamson Herald the panel grew out of an effort to use the visibility of former players to raise awareness for the nonprofit's work with abused children.
"People just don't really understand the vital work that's being done and how necessary it actually is," Hopkins told the Herald.
The evening runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in a casual, tailgate-style setting. Attendees can view the cars at 111 Motorcars while listening to a panel discussion and audience Q&A with the three former players. The conversation will cover their playing days, the franchise's history and their lives after football.
General admission tickets cost $100. VIP tickets are $250, with only 60 available. VIP guests get early access for a more personal interaction with the players and a commemorative poster signed by all three.
All proceeds go to Davis House.
Dyson is best known for his role in the Music City Miracle. He caught a lateral from Frank Wycheck and ran 75 yards for the winning touchdown in a 22-16 playoff victory over the Buffalo Bills in January 2000. Mason played eight seasons with the franchise and finished his NFL career with 943 receptions for 12,061 yards and 66 touchdowns.
Davis House provides forensic interviews, trauma-focused therapy and family advocacy for children in Williamson County who have experienced sexual or severe physical abuse.
Hopkins said organizers want the event to become a recurring series, potentially bringing in additional former and current Titans players.
"We don't want to make this a one and done," he told the Herald.
Tickets are available at the Davis House event page.
